The power plant tanker-product carrier will work on environmentally friendly GMT.
Bolshoi Kamen, Primorsky Krai, 9 Nov – IA Neftegaz.RU.SSK Star has started construction of 2th tanker-product carrier of the MR type, running on natural gas (HMT). Cutting the first parts of the hull of the ship of the future started in the hull block production on new high-tech gas-plasma machine installed as part of the expansion of existing facilities, the main plant of the shipyard.
This was announced by Rosneft.
The tankers are intended for transportation of petroleum products and gas condensate and will be operated under long-term time-Charter contracts Sovcomflot (SCF) with NOVATEK.
Powerplant tankers, product carriers will work on the environmentally friendly GMT.
This fuel significantly reduces emissions into the atmosphere.
Now the SCF fleet is – 6 oil tankers Aframax operating on natural gas (HMT).
5 “green” tankers (3 MR and 2 Aframax) ordered GFR at SSK Star.
The financing of the project of construction of MR tankers was launched in December 2019.
In September 2020, the Star began the process of cutting for 1th tanker-product carrier of the MR type.
Specifications are tailored to the new requirements of the International Maritime organization (IMO):
- the deadweight of 50 thousand tons,
- length – more than 180 m
- width – 32 m,
- draft – 13 m
Vessels of an ice class 1B can safely carry out year-round navigation, including in ice conditions of the Baltic sea.
Supply vessels is scheduled for 2022-2023 years.
At the moment the portfolio of orders the shipyard, under construction by a consortium led by Rosneft, has over 50 ships, taking into account options 59 vessels.
Pilot download complex provides Rosneft placed the shipyard on an order for 28 ships.
The product line Star will join ships of up to 350 thousand tons, elements of offshore platforms (MP), ice class vessels, commercial vessels for the transport of goods, special vessels and other marine equipment of any complexity, characteristics and purposes, including equipment, which earlier in Russia were not issued in connection with the lack of necessary release and hydraulic structures.
The Star already in operation:
- the hull block production,
- paint booths,
- outdoor heavy outfitting berth with a fleet of unique faucets and modern shipbuilding transport system, the transport and transfer dock.
The workshops were given the opportunity, without waiting for the completion of works on construction of 2th queues to start building some ships.
Commissioning 2th the queue will expand the capabilities of the shipyard and allow the Star to build ships and marine equipment without any restrictions.
Part 2th the queue includes:
- dry dock,
- additional production departments of a complete cycle for the construction of large vessels and marine equipment.
Star is designed to compete with foreign shipyards and partly to ensure Russia’s civil fleet for offshore fields development and smooth operation of the Northern sea route (NSR).
