Governor of the Krasnodar region visited the modernized Belorechenskaya hydroelectric power station of LUKOIL

Krasnodar, October 13 – IA Neftegaz.RU. The Governor of Krasnodar region V. Kondratev and head of LUKOIL Vagit Alekperov visited the Belorechenskaya hydroelectric power plant (HPP) and took part in the events marking its commissioning after complete reconstruction.
This was announced by LUKOIL.

Completion of major works from the beginning of experimental-industrial operation was held in 1m quarter of 2020.

In the course of implementing the project on modernization of hydro power stations LUKOIL fully replaced 2 hydraulic unit with increased power each with 16 to 24 MW.

The total capacity of the Belorechenskaya hydroelectric power station is 48 MW and the service life extended to 40 years.

The reconstruction included main generating equipment of the Russian production.

The project was implemented over 3 years.

According to the results of the reconstruction of the available hydroelectric power is restored to the original design.

This will allow more efficient use of the hydro potential of the river and will lead to a substantial increase in the productive supply of clean electricity from 138 to 250 million kWh/year, or more than 80%.

The upgraded facility will prevent the emissions of around 130 thousand tons/year2 equivalent.

For Krasnodar territory, as a resort of the region, hydropower is also important from the point of view of its sustainability.

Creation of such facilities has a direct impact on investment attractiveness of the region by reducing energy shortages.

  • today LUKOIL not only provides economic complex of the region the main types of petroleum products, building and upgrading of gas stations, invests in joint socio-economic programmes, but also gradually expand its portfolio of projects in the field of renewable energy sources (RES), including in the field of hydro power;
  • reconstructed Belorechenskaya hydroelectric power station – 1 of the best sites of the region in terms of electricity generation and security of operation;
  • the project is fully consistent with the strategy of LUKOIL in the development of green generation in regions with suitable climatic conditions and existing programs to support renewable energy.
